Xiao Wang

First prize winner of the 2012 Szigeti International Violin Competition and laureate of the 2015 Queen Elisabeth Competition and 2015 Seoul International Competition, Xiao has performed as soloist in many prestigious concert halls with distinguished conductors and orchestras around the world. He has collaborated with the National Orchestra of Belgium under the baton of Marin Alsop as well as toured with Kodaly Philharmonic Orchestra in Hungary. Mr. Wang also soloed with Maestro David Gilbert at Carnegie hall in New York City, the Gewandhaus Academisches Orchester in the Gewandhaus Leipzig Germany and performed under the baton of Maestro Andreas Ligeti appearing in Hungary’s Bela Bartok National Concert Hall. Among other engagements he has also given solo recitals and classes in many music festivals such as Budapest Spring Festival, Texas Music Festival, Qingdao Music Festival, Beijing International Music Festival and Academy and more.

As first prize winner of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artists competition, Mr. Wang soloed with the Texas Music Festival Orchestra conducted by Maestro Lavard Skou Larsen. In addition, he was heard in live performances on Houston Public Radio’s “Front Row” series.  He is also first prize winner of Heida Hermanns International String Competition, Waldo Mayo Memorial Competition and Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition.

Mr. Wang is a passionate chamber musician and has collaborated with Phillip Entremont, the American String Quartet, members of the Mendelssohn String Quartet and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

Xiao Wang began playing the violin at age 5.  At age 10, he was accepted to study at the Central Conservatory in Beijing with Professor Wei-dong Tong, later studying at the Curtis Institute of Music with Joseph Silverstein.  Mr. Wang is currently an Artist Diploma candidate and teaching assistant of Professor Lucie Robert in the Manhattan School of Music. Xiao Wang plays on the Ex Sandor Vegh Guarneri Del Gesu generously loanded by Florian Leonhard Fine Violins.
