Violinist of any nationality

AUDITION ROUNDS AND DATES

There are two rounds in total

Live Audition: February 13, 2016 in New York City
Venue: Manhattan School of Music, New York, USA
Live Audition: A free 60-minute recital program
Judges will choose 20-30 min of music from your submitted program

Final Round: March 2/3, 2016
Venue: Merkin Concert Hall, New York, USA
45 min uninterrupted recital
You will be playing 45 min recital of a free choice of repertoire without intermission

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS

1. Works submitted should be published *
2. There will be three violinists advancing to the final round, and at the end of the final round, the winner will be announced.
4. All required materials must be submitted and uploaded to the online application form.
5. Application shall contain the following documents:

a. Application form

b. A high-resolution professional photo in an electronic form: upload your high resolution photo directly to the online application form

c. A biographical sketch and a CV including the information of previous concert experiences, education, prizes and awards

d. A non-refundable application fee $175 (late application fee: $225) by check or money order or pay online

e. Audition program (Please include all details: title, opus number, movements, composer, dates)
- 60 min Live Audition program
- 45 min uninterrupted recital program for final: Repertoire can be those from live audition program

f. Repertoire list- works you have studied in the past two years: solo and concerti

g. A copy of applicant’s birth certificate, passport or any other official document establishing the age of the applicant.

h. Two suggested programs for your Berlin Philharmonie Debut Recitals if chosen

i. A short essay: describe how your musical journey has been so far, and what is the most important thing for you being a musician.

6. Application has to be in its completion. Incomplete application will not be considered.
Documents sent will not be returned.

2. A Winner will be announced on the website the following day after the final concert. The result of the first live round will be announced to all applicants by March 2, 2017 latest.

  • Two suggested programs for your Carnegie & Berlin Philharmonie Debut Recitals if chosen
  • A short essay: describe how your musical journey has been so far, and what is the most important thing for you being a musician.

5. Application has to be in its completion. Incomplete application will not be considered. Documents sent will not be returned.
6. Repertoire change of submitted programs for all three rounds is allowed before February 1, 2017. No changes are allowed after February 1, 2017.
7. Finalists from outside USA will receive a travel grant up to $500. Selected finalists should purchase air tickets to New York if they are from outside US immediately after the announcement.

New York Concert Artists & Associates has unrestricted rights to broadcast, record, televise, publish any part of the applicant’s participation in the audition and the winner’s concert, including, but not limited to, rehearsals and performances.
